While most people fear the past coming back to haunt them, it often comes back in a nice way, and perhaps this is true of fashion especially when designers try to bring back disco clothing in a new form or the other.
And while the saying “Everything is recycled” often has an authentic ring to it, “reliving the past” in this case can often be a pleasurable one.
Perhaps these designers appreciate how far we’ve come and wish to pay tribute to the trends that revolutionized the way people dressed in those days, and more often than not, each year turns out to showcase a particular era of fashion design.
But if there is one era when saw a distinct change in attitudes with a more “back to basics” approach, it was the era of hippie clothing, with almost every thing related to clothing being having a certain DIY sense to it.
Ask your parents or grandparents how things changed so rapidly during those times, and it all started with a gradual break away of one’s value system that represented unconventional thinking and with it, came change. If you look at websites such Vintage Trends, you’ll be able to see how contrasting the popular fashion trends of the 50s and 60 were.
And with this kind of thinking brought about a shift from the way one dressed to a new (and a back to earth) way of dressing, and away from clothes that were considered the norm in those days, and that are described as vintage sport tee shirts in today’s world.
One way or another, the fact that things will continue to change is a given fact, but what won’t change is our respect for how far we’ve come, and which can only be the basis of where we want to go.
